A Transformative Training Course in Bucharest!
In the summer of 2024, 30 youth workers from Poland, Romania, and Spain gathered in Bucharest for an intensive and inspiring training course.
From August 17th to August 23rd, 2024, they immersed themselves in a dynamic program at the ibis Hotel Bucharest Politehnica, focusing on empowering youth through art and non-formal education.
What We Achieved
The core purpose of this training was twofold:
- Developing Innovative Methodologies: Our youth workers successfully created and tested new methodologies that combined art and non-formal education (NFE). These methods were designed to effectively include young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and significantly boost their self-esteem.
- Boosting Youth Worker Skills: We focused on enhancing the skills of the participating youth workers, enabling them to foster participation, inclusion, and confidence-building among disadvantaged youth. We saw a remarkable improvement of at least 20% in their abilities, as measured by pre- and post-assessment comparisons.
This training course was a vital step in equipping our youth workers with the tools and knowledge to create a lasting, positive impact on the lives of young people. We're excited to see these new methods in action!
Key Outcomes of the Training Camp
The Bucharest camp was a hub of activity with several key objectives:
- Combining Art and Inclusion: We developed practical methods that beautifully blended artistic expression with inclusive practices.
- Crafting Self-Esteem Building Methods: Participants created and adapted a variety of non-formal methods specifically aimed at enhancing self-esteem.
- Empowering 30 Youth Workers: Our 30 youth workers gained crucial competencies in designing, adapting, and implementing over 30 methods that promote inclusion and increase self-esteem.
Our Dynamic Learning Environment
Learning was engaging and fun! We utilized a wealth of non-formal methods, creating an enjoyable and interactive experience. While the learning was dynamic, we maintained a structured environment, emphasizing respect for the program and punctuality for all sessions. Participants had access to the full activity program and dedicated discussion sessions to review it.
Activities took place in various spaces, both indoors and outdoors, making the most of the facilities at the ibis Hotel Bucharest Politehnica, which served as both our accommodation and workshop venue.
